Good apps

Using apps in addition to finding books or events at your library can help integrate stress management into your life. You can search an app store with keywords like "stress" or "relax" to find options, you can read some suggestions below, or you can ask a librarian in your town for ideas!

My top suggestion, Calm, has guided meditation as well as images and sounds of nature to help with managing stress. Even having the app on your phone’s home screen can help as a reminder to take a deep breath, balance what you are doing, and take stock of your feelings. The app is free to download and available from app stores. The website is https://www.calm.com/.

You can also pay for apps like Forest: Stay Focused, Be Present that can be tools to manage stress by helping you set goals for yourself and use your phone to help you achieve them. This could especially be helpful if your stress comes from a lot of homework and projects or from studying for big tests. You can see more about this app here: http://www.forestapp.cc/

If you like free options, you can also search for free browser additions on topics like focus and add them to your browser with permission. One option is Strict Workflow, which can be added to Chrome and allows you to block distracting or stressful sites like Twitter or Facebook when you do your homework. You can search for a topic like motivation and find extensions like Be Limitless or Momentum.

Remember to check your local library system for technology events or tech centers where you can find or share what works for you to manage stress!
